Default PvE and Quests

My appologies for the last thread I started. It wasn't intended as a "troll" or flame broiler, just a inquiry to clarification on what GW's roots are. I saw some very valid points made during the thread and feel more comfy about GW's roots. No need to comment further. Once again, my appologies to those offended by my line of questions.

To the point of this topic:
In the event I do buy GW, I probably will spend 90% of my time in solo PvE engagements. From what I have read of the FAQ there may be a few quests that will require a party to complete due to the strength of some of the monsters. If I can't complete a quest due to a tough monster preventing me from acheiving my goal, can I get another quest and go back to that one once I get a party who needs the same quest or do I only get one quest at a time. Being "stuck" with a 30+ monster to defeat in order to continue or complete a quest and not being able to get another quest wouldn't be a lot of fun.

You can have as many "quests" on your quest log as your heart desires.

Missions, however, are a different thing. Missions are used to progress through the storyline, and so they tend to proceed in a linear fashion. You *can* jump around, however, by going through explorable areas to skip certain missions and end up in a later point in the storyline. EAs, however, after somes just as hard as missions.

I forgot about henchment, too. The only reason not to complete a 30 lvl monster quest is because I manage my money poorly and can't hire enough henchmen. Henchmen are nice, even if they turn out to be nothing more than a target - henchmen are nice because they buy time. I guess that makes the issue of incompletable quests a mute point....

Henchmen don't require gold to take into an area. They simply take a share of gold and items from your drops. Also you can not take more than 4 henchmen into an area if the group number is 6+. Obviously you can only take 3 into an area that allows 4 people groups.

You may be confusing Missions and Quests in this game. ( or maybe you're just confusing us... )
Missions are linear. You can bypass them but you should not. Quests are completely optional and are more like bonuses.

You should not be overly concerned about getting a party together to do a Mission. Missions start at Outposts and most everyone at the Outpost is there to do the Mission. So it's not that hard to find a party.

Okay, if you know what a quest is versus a mission already, and I am going to assume you do ( ), then you need to know you aren't locked up by that one quest. You can take on any and all that someone has. It isn't that you have to complete that quest before someone will give you another--Quest Succession Dependency = The other grind. GuildWars doesn't do that.

There is a story that is tied to the missions, and that is linear as far as completing it, but you can still go, as far as I know, to all the outposts and cities along the way. I am not sure if you can go on a mission in the following city if you bypass the previous one. Surely somoene else can shed light on that.

Hope this was helpful.

Henchmen eh? first I have heard of them, sounds interesting...kinda reminds me of Dungeon Siege...I loved having henchmen! Do the henchmen only last for one mission? or do they level along with you?

the henchmen last as long as you do not return to a town or outpost. during that time, they will gain experience and level. once you return to a town or outpost, they revert back to the default level available at that particular town or outpost.

Thanks for clearing up the game terminology of mission an quest (still sound the same aside from linear progression lol). I'd rather pay the henchmen and keep them forever. It sounds ill to level and work a henchmen only to have the efforts of keeping him/her alive be for nothing when you return to town/outpost. BTW, I just hate not getting a quest completed. I like a clear docket.

I just hope GW doesn't "Seige of Avalon" with the missions .

yes, PvE means Player vs Environment. Which just means you are playing against the game itself, the environment you are in and the ai of the enemies.

I thought it was Player vs Elves. Just kidding. Other terms are MOB which I believe is Monster Only Battle, PvYG - player vs yard gnomes, PvH - player vs himself/herself, Pv which is the rabid dog player who attackes everything including trees, walls, people, and poor defensless nothing.
